Fine Arts Overview

Students are given the opportunity to be involved in numerous fine arts activities here at CCS.  Elementary students participate in general music classes every year. All students sing in choir in grades 1-8.  All students in grades 6-8 play an instrument in the band.  Elementary students may also choose to audition for the handbell choir.

By the time students have reached the junior high grades, they have been given enough instruction in music to continue with an instrument.  New students to the junior high are given several weeks to try out the brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.

Students in grades 9-12 have the option of being in band and choir provided all other electives are met for credit. The opportunities abound in the senior high to participate in regular choir and band rehearsals and concerts.  Provided there are enough interested students, a marching band is also available.  Students in the marching band will play in parades and other venues as time permits.

Private piano lessons are given during the school day.  Students will receive one thirty-minute lesson each week.  Lessons are for a semester at a time.  Please see the Fee Schedule for pricing.  All students taking piano at CCS will participate in two school recitals.  Exceptions are made to beginning students.

All music groups at CCS may participate in school programs, chapels, music contests, music festivals, and community events.
